The Jaguar XJL has gone......

Jaguar XJL
Jaguar XJL

The Jaguar XJL was the first vehicle for Blueline Chauffeurs, we wanted to be different to other companies, we didn't want to follow suit and go down the Mercedes route as so many do, this led to a phone call from a friend at Jaguar Southampton asking if we'd be interested in one of the last made XJL's, it was one of approx. 12 XJL's that were almost identical and passed by JLR to the British Government for use by the lower ranking Royals and Government ministers during their first year of life, it was then returned to the factory where it continued to be serviced and meticulously maintained. This car only had 2000 miles on it, it was 2 years old. We hadn't seen it, but we had to have it!

The XJL has remained a firm favourite with us chauffeurs and our clients, if it's fit for Royalty, it's fit for our clients, but in the last year of production JLR sold less than 300 XJ's worldwide, the XJ was becoming a rare car. Spare parts have become a problem, in October 2025 our XJL suffered a broken windscreen, no one had one in stock and JLR HQ had also run out of replacements and due to the low numbers required no glass manufacturer would produce any unless JLR purchased a set amount. After 5 weeks of being off of the road and the insurance company wanting to write the car off, we managed to source a used windscreen, so a 700 return drive ensued to collect it from Newcastle! We had been thinking about fleet replacement for a while and a Range Rover was always on the cards, so with the XJL being so vulnerable to the supply of certain spares a trip to Hendy Jaguar Land Rover in Southampton was arranged and a few hours later we'd invested in a brand new replacement for the XJL that is every bit as British and luxurious.
